We had some new friends over on Thursday night, and one of the guys mentioned a local mediterranean grill in town that has really good food...and the owner is from ETHIOPIA!! We were so excited! We had never met anyone from Ethiopia who lives here in Mississippi! So you know where we made plans to go have dinner on Friday? Yep! His restaurant!!
As we were being seated at the restaurant, we told the hostess that we are adopting a baby girl from Ethiopia and we would love to meet the owner if possible! She said, "He would love that! He is not here right now, but he'll show up soon because he's always here on belly dancing night!" Oh, yes, the first Friday of the month is belly dancing night! So that added even more fun and excitement! :)
Callie Grace wanted to have her picure made with one of the dancers before they got started! She asked Callie Grace if she wanted to get up and dance with them. And to my surprise..she did!
Here was Callie Grace learning some "new moves" at the restaurant! Everyone there clapped really loud for her when she was done...she loved it!!
Look at Jody's face in this picture! He was cracking me up! :) I think he was ready to get out of there when the dancing started! The girls loved watching the dancers...but Carson, well...
This was the face he gave us for the camera! He was not interested in the belly dancing and wanted to go run around outside!
So, we finished our food, which was delicious, and asked the hostess if the owner was back yet. She said, "No, but his two younger brothers are back in the kitchen if you want to meet them!" And, of course, we said, "Yes"! We went back and met the two younger brothers, and they were so nice!!
Here is Jody with one of the brothers! I'm sure he thought I was crazy for taking all these pictures...but ya'll know I have to document this journey and all these "firsts" for Caroline Faith!
We talked to the brothers for awhile about Ethiopia and our adoption process, and they were so sweet and helpful. We told them we would definitely come back again, and would look forward to meeting their older brother. I promise, we had JUST walked out the door, and one of the brothers ran to the door and said, "My brother just got here if still want to meet him!" So we went right back in to meet him!
Here I am with the restaurant owner, who was so friendly and nice! We talked to him for awhile...and he was so excited to hear that we are adopting from Ethiopia! He still has family there, but he said that he now considers Mississippi his home! He also told us there were a few other families from Ethiopia in our area. I couldn't believe it! I had no idea! God has just been placing so many people from Ethiopia in our lives lately...it has been so neat!
We will definitely be going back to his restaurant a lot...and we're trying to talk him into starting to serve some Ethiopian food too! That would be another first for us...to try Ethiopian food! I'll be sure to document that! We were just so thrilled to meet these brothers, and we hope to get to know them better...and gets lots of tips on Ethiopian culture, food, etc. And we promised them we will one day bring Caroline Faith with us!!

Too funny--I think I was reading your post when you were leaving a comment on mine! We are new to Facebook as well...a friend suggested it as a way to spread the word with our fundraising stuff. I will post a follow up on how it goes! Love the belly dancing night story!!
We have been there on a Friday night with that same bellydancer. . . Kate was mesmerized!! She has never sat so still through a meal.
Love it! Is that Aladdin? Josh and I are going to an Ethiopian restaurant in Memphis on Friday...we are so excited! It's supposed to be an authentically Ethiopian experience!
