We Got Fingerprint Appointments!! But...

Last Thursday afternoon, I was so excited to receive THIS in the mail...

Our USCIS biometrics fingerprinting appointment!!

It is called an I-797, Notice of Action.

Anyway, I was super excited to get our fingerprint appointments in the mail!! I just love making any step closer to our Caroline Faith! So yes, even getting this appointment notice just made my day! Until...

Jody got home from work, and I happily told him to go ahead and put the appointment date and time in his phone. It was then that we realized it!! He has an ALL-DAY meeting scheduled that SAME DAY! He very rarely has meetings like that, but it "just happened" to fall on the same day as our scheduled appointments!

If you have been following our blog for any length of time, then you know I don't believe anything "just happens"! God is leading every step of this journey to our baby girl, and I just know that for some reason, He wanted these appointments on a different day!

So, on Monday I mailed in a request to have our fingerprint appointments changed. Our social worker said that they usually have a quick turnaround for rescheduling requests. Hopefully, we will have our new fingerprint appointments very soon!

I read on the form that they don't allow cameras or cell phones in the building where you get your fingerprints made! The cell phone thing I can handle. But the CAMERA?  I have taken pictures everywhere on this adoption journey! Oh well, maybe we can get a few pics outside the building or something! :)

i didn't have to, but i know someone who did and it wasn't a problem at all! i'm sure it'll work out fine (although a pain at the same time!). yes, you'll have to take pics before you go in!

I can almost guarantee we will have to reschedule ours, whenever they are. Why? Because my husband's a farmer who works 80 hours a week, much of that out of town! i'm interested to hear how you guys navigate the rescheduling!

I know someone that had to reschedule their fingerprints... and their new appointment was BEFORE their originally scheduled one! whoops... don't mean to get your hopes up! I also know 2 families that just walked in with no appt. But I know they frown upon that.

Praying that you get your fingerprint appointments rescheduled quickly...I know how hard it is to wait sometimes...you know as well as we do "Adoption is completely in God's timing" and everything else :)

Our appointment fell during our vacation. I sent in the request to reschedule and then I got so worried about whether they received it that I went down to the office to check on it. They told me we could just walk-in and do it any afternoon. So my husband and I went back the very next day! It was super fast and easy and we had our FDL within three weeks!

It's great that you're at this point in the journey! I received a different fingerprint date than my husband did. Mine was supposed to be 2 weeks later, and we didn't want to make the 3-hour drive twice! So I went with him to his appointment, and the worker there assured me that it was not a big deal - they did mine the same day. And we got our FDL really quickly too (within 2 weeks of our appointment). Hope all goes well for you, and that changing the date is a cinch!

Alison - Wowie! Soooo FUN to be finishing the last few pieces of paperwork so that you will be REFERRAL READY! :) *praying you are able to change your appointment, get them done and receive your FDL in a timely way* :)

I have to say - it was pretty exciting to get that FDL in the mail!!! :)

Blessings!

OH dear! Hope you get the new ones soon.

We took a pic outside...can't see the building in it, but we all know the significance in it. PLUS we were ALL ready to be outta there. Keeping a sick 18 month old quiet for 1 1/2 is a nightmare. Especially when they don't allow FOOD or DRINKS! =( Don't worry, we snuck it in anyway. I think they even saw us, but they were probably all annoyed with the crying cuz they didn't say a thing ;)

Hey Alison--check my latest post about the Christmas Frenzy...you could put your bracelet fundraiser on it. I think that it is such a great idea!

Alison,
We went in as soon as we got our notices. My hubby had the day off work so we decided to try it, and they took us right away! So I suggest you just go in when your hubby is available, all they can do is say no! It worked for us, we got our fingerprints done 3 weeks early! I know others who did the same thing. Some offices are more flexible, but it might be worth the try. :)
