His Ways Are Higher.

It's the very end of the month of June.  And with the end of this month, I have been processing many different thoughts and emotions.

Back in April, I started praying very boldly for something specific regarding our adoption process.  I was asking God that we would see Caroline Faith's face sometime in the month of June.  The month of June was just heavy on my heart, and I started praying hard and asking God for a "June miracle"...a referral call for our precious daughter.

Even as time went on, and we did not see many referrals going out, I was still praying and holding out hope.  I was praying for a miracle.  I knew that nothing was impossible for Him.  But I also knew that He would answer my prayer according to His good and perfect will.

Was the Lord's will for us to see our daughter's face in June?  I wasn't sure, but I sure hoped so.  And I just kept praying and asking Him for our "June miracle".

Well, at the end of yesterday, I realized that God's plan was not for us to get a referral in June.  He had answered my prayer, but not with a "Yes".  He had answered my prayer with a "Wait."

I have to be honest that my heart was sad.  A little sad, but not hopeless.  You see, this past Thursday, God gave me this verse to cling to...

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways And My thoughts than your thoughts."  Isaiah 55:9

I think I knew then that He was preparing me for what His answer would be.  His ways are not my ways...they are higher!  His thoughts are not my thoughts...they are better!  His plans are not my plans...they are PERFECT!

So, today I am choosing to rest in His word.  I am choosing to trust His plan.  I am choosing to wait on Him.  I am choosing JOY.  And I will be honest with ya'll, after being on this journey for over 2 years, I have to make these choices daily.

The Lord never promised us this adoption journey to our daughter in Ethiopia would be quick, easy and painless.  But He did promise to be with us every step of the way...and He has been.

And we are still savoring the JOY of the June miracle that the Lord did give us...the salvation of our son!  Thank you for sharing in our joy!  We have been praying for all of our children's salvation since before they were even born.

I realized that even though God's plan was not for us to get our referral call in June, He did answer our prayer.  When Carson prayed to accept Christ, God answered our prayer that we have prayed for over 7 years!!!  Yes, I know we did indeed get our "June miracle"!  It was not in the way we thought, but it was a beautiful part of God's perfect plan for our family!

So thankful to serve a God whose ways are HIGHER!!!

God is good, all the time.  All the time, God is good!

I can.not.wait to see you hold Caroline Faith in your arms. Alison, you continue to be an example to the rest of us on trusting in the Lord's perfect timing. I love that we can be honest with each other than the physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, challenges of waiting can be HARD, but that in no way diminishes the perfect, higher ways of God nor our trust in Him to make all things beautiful in His time. Even though you didn't get a referral in June, it maybe that you will find out as you meet your daughter that there was a very specific reason you were praying for her in June.:) Love you friend! Hang tight...let's bring her home!

Your joy in our Lord is inspirational, Alison.

Your daily verse says that the Lord will be King over the whole earth! And He is! His ways are Higher. I am very excited to see them unfold.

Praise God for your June miracle. As for the other miracle you prayed for, I think God wanted you to pray for Caroline Faith for a specific, special reason. Soon we will see!

Oh friend. This made me cry tonight. I'm praying for you and your sweet girl. I wonder if something very significant was going on in her life this month. Perhaps that's why God impressed on you to pray for her in June specifically. I can't wait to rejoice with you when that referral call comes!! Love you!

What a road you have been on, Alison. We are just praying for this time of waiting for your beautiful daughter. The best part is that even though you did not see her face in June, we know that God knows her face. We also know that God has not forgotten you in June. So excited for your little boy accepting Christ!

You speak TRUTH my friend. Although it is so hard to see that date come and go, it is completely worth it when you finally see that sweet face. Who knows....maybe June is a VERY significant month for your sweet Caroline Faith, just not for the reasons you thought. I was praying for a December referral and although we got our referral in February, our sweet Cocoa was BORN the week of Christmas! God has something pretty awesome up His just WAIT! I can't WAIT to see how the details fall in place!
