Eating for Two??

I have now officially been "paper pregnant" longer with Caroline Faith than with all three of our other children COMBINED!!!  To say this has been a long pregnancy is quite an understatement. :)

When I was pregnant with our first 3 children, I took the whole "eating for two" thing to heart, and had a grand time with it! Well, during the second half of each pregnancy, that is.  I was so sick with all of them in the beginning half that I just ate whatever I could keep down.  But then, as you can see above with Miss Caty in my belly, I had no trouble packing on 45 pounds! :)

Well, I always say that adoption is way harder emotionally but way easier physically.  But the hard part about adoption is that you are in this really difficult emotional state, but you can't "eat for two" like you did during your other pregnancies.

Or maybe I should say, you "shouldn't" eat for two. :)

I know I have been doing some "emotional eating" during this fall and holiday season.  Staying at #5 for months on end has been pretty tough, and some days it has just required some ice cream or cookie dough or...half a bag of pita chips.

Well, last night as I was putting Caty in the bed she looked up at me and asked," Is Caroline Faith going to come out of your belly?"

(Please note, we have gone over this at least 200 times in the past 3 years, so I was really wondering how she could possibly still be confused about this...but then came the next question.)

I told her no, then she asked (so sweetly), "Then why is your belly getting bigger?"

Oh my!  I was so stunned I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!  So I just laughed!!!

And then I went straight to the gym this morning! :)

That is so funny! Children sure do make the wait easier. We are waiting for our referral of our two kids as well. Praying for your family:)

That is so funny! I definitely gained weight from our adoption - especially waiting on embassy clearance I did a lot of emotional eating! I had to start running again!

You have been on my heart a lot lately Alison! can't wait to rejoice with you soon.

Oh my goodness you crack me up. I ate for 2 with mine as well - put on 35, 40 and 45 lbs with each 3, respectively. Whew! But when I went to Ethiopia I lost like 10 pounds and couldn't put ANY of the weight back on no matter what I did (I was pretty small, at least for me). 2 years later and it's back...almost pre-pregnancies...but not quite. I have to work a lot harder now and the holidays with the sugar is just awful!!

(P.S. you're much cuter pregnant than I was - I had hyperemesis gravidarum with all 3 of mine and looked almost like death...fat death. haha)

Kids can be brutal! I have been exercising like crazy but still couldn't kick it when I realized that I had not kicked my pregnancy eating habits haha!
