New October 2012 Number!!!

We got an email from our AGCI case worker, M, this morning with our new monthly waitlist number.  For the month of October 2012, we are still at...

#5!!!!!

Not a big surprise. We pretty much knew this would be the case.  Five has always been my favorite number, but I am REALLY READY to say good-bye to #5!  I think that #1 is now my new favorite number!  :)

The truth is, I am not really a big "numbers person" at all.  Math was always my least favorite subject in school.  And after being on a numbered wait list for almost 26 months, I am about ready to be done with numbers altogether! :)

But, for right now, we are still sitting at #5 on the AGCI girl wait list.  The hardest months are always the months when our waitlist number doesn't move, and unfortunately, this is our 4th time for that to happen.  But, I had a really good talk with our case worker, M, yesterday and we are both praying that she will be calling us soon with news of our baby girl!

So this was our third "October number" to get from AGCI.  In October 2010, we were #83, and then in October 2011, we were #22, and now we are #5.  I know, it seems so crazy that we would move 61 spots the first year of waiting, and then just 17 spots in the second year of waiting.  Why the big slowdown?

Part of the reason we are moving slower now is that we are so close to the top of the list.  The only four families that can "move us" on the list are right above us waiting on baby girls like we are. And another part of the reason is the extensive paperwork requirements by the U.S. Embassy in Ethiopia to prove the orphan status of a child.  While we appreciate their efforts to keep the adoption process ethical, it is obvious that it has slowed the process down considerably.

However...

We serve a God is who is way higher than waitlist numbers, government agencies and paperwork.

We believe in His sovereignty.

We know that even now He is moving on our daughter's behalf.

We trust in His timing to bring her home, and

WE STILL BELIEVE IN MIRACLES!!!!!

"I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for morning, more than watchmen for morning."
